Outcomes

1. Meetings with several producers and users of packaging materials have been conducted. Particularly all the companies present expressed their willingness to participate in a workshop for discussing the mechanisms of business involvement in the process of collection and recycling of waste packaging materials. The project has already assisted some companies in finding partners from the private sector for collecting waste packaging materials.

2. The project has provided awareness raising materials about waste management practices to interest groups via media, video recording and training and risk management initiatives in Kazakhstan. The interest groups will include secondary school students of Almaty:

  • TV programs;
  • Computer games;
  • Publication and learning materials for schools and universities;
  • New information & communication technology, info for web page.

3. Good practice on separation of domestic wastes “at source” and their further recycling has been launched in Kyzyl Orda city at several waste sites.
